WE ARE TGI

The Greatest Investment (“TGI”) Girls Empowerment Program was created in 2010 to empower the next generation of strong, confident and fierce female leaders. From its inception, TGI has challenged female professionals, business owners, community leaders and volunteers to take an active role in shaping the life of a future female leader.

Before TGI, Orlando had no summer camps specifically focused on empowering tomorrow’s women. In tough economic times—when community programs are being cut and many families can’t afford traditional camps—vulnerable teenage girls were left learning life lessons from negative reality shows or misguided peers. TGI responded by launching an educational, enriching and fun summer experience, first for Orlando’s girls and now for young women across Central Florida.

Each summer, TGI offers a four-week summer camp for young ladies ages 12–18, primarily from high priority communities such as the Paramore and Pine Hills neighborhoods. The curriculum centers on boosting self-esteem and character, honing interpersonal skills and introducing vital life lessons—financial literacy, goal setting, health and nutrition, college prep, career building and community development. Campers expand their horizons by shadowing business and community leaders, sharing talents and interests in a supportive environment.

The summer camp experience combines individual and group counseling, peer-led discussions on hot-button topics, leadership workshops, guest speakers, college tours, interactive skills labs and exhilarating field trips. Mental health and resilience are woven throughout, with licensed counselors facilitating guided reflections and coping-skill sessions.

Beyond summer, TGI sustains its impact through a suite of year-round programs:

  • Monthly Empowerment sessions on academic success, financial literacy, college readiness, career development, personal growth and community service

  • Mentor Match, pairing young ladies with professional women for one-on-one guidance and networking

  • Scholarship & College Support offering application coaching, essay workshops and financial aid navigation

  • After school initiatives at Jones High School, Evans High School, and OCPS A.C.E. to create safe spaces for young ladies to develop their academic skills, improve on their communication, improvement on their self-esteem, and college readiness.

TGI’s volunteers are the program’s lifeblood—dedicated professionals who share time, expertise and encouragement to equip our young ladies for the challenges ahead. Whether leading a workshop, hosting a campus tour or mentoring one-to-one, each volunteer teaches by example the power of service and leadership.

Over the last fifteen years, TGI has positively impacted more than 450 young ladies in Central Florida, South Africa and Haiti. Alumnae are honor roll students, Advanced Placement scholars, student-organization leaders and passionate community advocates. Many have gone on to graduate high school and college, launch successful careers and extend TGI’s mission in their own communities around the globe.

TGI is truly transforming the lives of our participants, their families and the broader community—proof that investing in girls today builds stronger leaders for tomorrow.
